CREATE BOOK CLUB WEEKEND RETREAT PACKAGE

NEW YORK, NY (FEBRUARY 17, 2003) - With more than four million book club members in the U.S. alone, many avid readers are finding it difficult to set aside uninterrupted time to participate. In response to this trend, New Yorks Hotel Elysee and Library Hotel have joined together to offer a Book Club Weekend Retreat" designed to take advantage of each hotels literary ties and provide a relaxing venue to discuss the tome of the month."

According to Adele Gutman, Honorary Librarian of the Library Hotel, Female bonding travel experiences are no longer limited to spa retreats. Most recently, we have noticed a growing trend in book clubs who come to the Library Hotel or the Hotel Elysee for a thought-provoking weekend literary experience."
One recent Book Club retreat participant noted, The Hotel Elysee is known for its rich literary history. Just being there reminds you of why you love books and reading. The public places are quiet and situated in a way that allows groups to enjoy a private conversation - even while having breakfast or an evening glass of wine among the other guests."

The Book Club Weekend Retreat package includes deluxe accommodations at either the Library Hotel or the Hotel Elysee at a special group rate based on dates and availability; a gift of a new book for each guest; a complimentary upgrade for the group leader (if booking six rooms or more); a poetry map of New York; a complimentary Library Hotel brass bookmark; 24-hour complimentary refreshments at either the Club Room library of the Hotel Elysee or the Reading Room of the Library Hotel; complimentary buffet breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese reception daily; complimentary cocktail at the world-famous Monkey Bar; tour of the New York Public Library; and optional Saturday morning yoga class (additional fee). Until September 1, 2003, nightly rates start at $185 for Petite Rooms, $245 for Deluxe Rooms, $285 for Jr. Suites, and $345 for Suites but may vary depending upon hotel selected, dates, room category, and availability.

The Hotel Elysee stands mid-block on East 54th Street between Madison and Park Avenues and was the home to Harold Robbins, Truman Capote, and Tennessee Williams. Williams, in fact, died at the Hotel Elysee 20 years ago this month. The Hotel Elysee has also welcomed Mario Puzo, Sidney Sheldon, and James Clavell, as well as many stars including Sidney Poitier, Tallulah Bankhead, Marlon Brando, Joe DiMaggio and John and Ethel Barrymore.

The Library Hotel on 41st Street at Madison Avenue is the only hotel in the world with over 6,000 books organized throughout the hotel based upon the Dewey Decimal System. Each of the 10 guest room floors is dedicated to one of the 10 major classifications of the Dewey Decimal System such as Literature, Arts, Philosophy, etc. Every guest room features a collection of books and art exploring an individual topic within the floor, such as Fairy Tales or Photography.
