A new weekly support group for people suffering from phobias will meet at the Northwestern Institute of Psychiatry beginning Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at 7 pm. Led by John K. Cook, a phobia counselor certified by the White Plains Hospital Center in White Plains, NY, the group is geared primarily to those whose daily lives are disrupted or limited by phobias, such as fear of heights, elevators, trains, driving on parkways or bridges, certain animals, or doctor visits.

Fort Washington, PA-A new weekly support group for people suffering from phobias will meet at the Northwestern Institute of Psychiatry beginning Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at 7 pm. Led by John K. Cook, a phobia counselor certified by the White Plains Hospital Center in White Plains, NY, the group is geared primarily to those whose daily lives are disrupted or limited by phobias, such as fear of heights, elevators, trains, driving on parkways or bridges, certain animals, or doctor visits. The group is also open to those with social phobia-fear of social situations. In addition to providing a forum sharing experiences and getting support, the sessions will offer specific instruction in desensitization theory and practice so that members can establish goals and treat their own phobias.
