Fru-Con Celebrates 4 Million Safe Hours

ST. LOUIS -- The people of Fru-Con Construction Corp at the Procter and Gambles coffee plants in New Orleans celebrated reaching four million hours worked without a lost-time accident and served a catered lunch for the occasion.
Reaching four million safe hours is a tribute to each employee," says Rod Nobis, Fru-Con site manager." This is evidence that Fru-Con employees hold their safety and that of their fellow workers as a personal value."
This remarkable milestone took nearly 14 years to achieve. Fru-Con has maintained the construction management projects at the plants, which produce Folgers ground and roasted coffees, and whole bean coffees under the Millstone Coffee and Brothers Gourmet Coffee brand names. Fru-Con has not had a lost-time injury at the two New Orleans coffee plants since Aug. 20, 1988. Both Fru-Con and Procter & Gamble (P&G) emphasize safe work habits at all times. Fru-Cons recordable incident rate (RIR) of 0.31 at the plants is well below the national average of 7.8 and is considered world class. In the last 3 years, crews have worked over 2.2 million effort hours.
To mark the event, Fru-Con catered an on-site lunch for all the staff members and craft workers. Its a great way to recognize the employees and their continued efforts towards safety," said Randy Clark, Fru-Con site safety manager: We have worked hard to build a culture of safety and this our appreciation to their commitment.
The Folgers plant is the worlds largest coffee roasting facility.
