Virginia Beach, VA, 2/19/2002 - Box Laser Industries, a company formed to create high quality, affordable laser control products for the entertainment industry and hobbyists has released the Box RT16 Laser Control System. The RT16 is a system for controlling laser projectors with a focus for use in a live environment and costs $699 , hundreds of dollars less than the nearest competitor in its class. It is aimed at both professional laserists and hobbyists.
The Box RT16 Laser Control system consists of the Box Producer stand-alone 16 bit laser controller unit and the Box Performer show design/live performance software.
Box Producer is an external interface that connects to a laser projector and the parallel port of a PC. It controls high-speed X/Y scanners at 16 bit resolution and has 8 TTL outputs. It uses a 120v power supply for use in the U.S. and a 240v power supply will soon be available for overseas users.
Box Performer is a Windows 95/98/ME software package that can produce and edit live shows in real time. Box Performer uses a sequencer style control system that mirrors the design of popular drum machines, allowing the user a high level of control over a performance. Box Performer also allows the user to play single animations directly from the console, including adding built in effects like strobe, rotation and zoom.
In addition, Box Performer includes assignable projection areas, a real time abstracts engine with dual oscillators and algorithms, an effects editor, a comprehensive beam editor, a TTL sequencer, and real time animation effects. Box Performer has a full MIDI implementation covering everything from objects, effects, and pattern selection, to direct beam table TTL control. A preview window allows the user to see in real time what the laser is scanning.
The RT16 System also ships with Box Monkey Tools, a stand alone ILDA animation and frame editor. Monkey Tools allows users to create detailed animations or single frames that can be used with Box Performer or any other software that supports ILDA format files.
