Q. What is the benefit of using Blotting Tissues? Cant I just re-powder when I get shiny?
A. Alison Raffaele, creator of Skin Alison Raffaele cosmetics, offers the following advice:
For many, using a pigmented pressed powder compact to touch up" shine during the day presents no problems and works just fine. But for women with oily skin and during the warm summer months, a pressed powder alone is a recipe for disaster. Why? Because once a powder absorbs the excess oil and perspiration on your skin, it is just left to sit there -- and many women with oily skin tend to turn flesh-colored pigments orange-y" over time. In addition, some of that excess oil and perspiration (and bacteria!) is being absorbed by your powder puff / brush -- and really, how often do you wash that powder puff / brush?
The beauty of Blotting Tissues is that they both absorb and remove excess oil and perspiration from your skin -- so, when you throw away a used Blotting Tissue and you are literally getting rid of" your excess shine. Should you still wish to use your pressed powder, doing so after blotting will help the powder stay color-true and prevent it from building up on your skin. However, blotting does not get you off the hook when it comes to washing your powder puff / brush on a regular basis. A good rule of thumb is that if you use your pressed powder to touch up every day, then you should be washing your puff / brush ever week; if you only use your powder every once in a while, you should still wash your brush at least once a month.
