Newtown Square, PA -- December 9, 2002 -- Benoit & Czarnecki Design/Construction, LLC, one of the areas fastest up and coming design/build firms, today announced their bid acceptance of a Haverford, PA area 1925 Georgian mansion. In conjunction with starting this large-scale job, Benoit & Czarnecki is teaming up with Barte Shadlow and the HGTV television show, Renovations" to produce a program highlighting the colorful history of the mansion, as well as the various stages of construction involved in its renovation.

A house of this era and size takes extensive planning and attention to detail, especially when blending the old with the new," said Jim Benoit, Construction Manager. The key to a successful project is not only maintaining a high level of craftsmanship, but also managing the flow of personnel and materials on and off the site. This balance is only achieved through a highly motivated and experienced team of individuals and an open line of communication with the owner."

The beginning stages of demolition are slated to start in early November with the camera crews on site to capture the amazing transformation. The renovation includes the demolition and removal of the recently rebuilt second floor. Allegedly, eccentric former owners of the mansion paid for a wrecking ball to demolish the second floor during World War II, because they couldnt afford the cost of heating the space. Once the second floor was removed it was left as a flat roof for sometime. It was later given a gable roof creating attic space around the 1950s to stop water damage. More recently, a local builder purchased the house with hopes to reconstruct the attic into usable living space for resale. The current owner became interested in the 1925 mansion and purchased the house as is" (unfinished) from the local builder. The new owner teamed up with architect, Peter Batchelor of Peter Batchelor and Associates, to replicate the 1925 Georgian home second floor to match its original Horace Trumbauer design. The original style of the house will be melded with modern materials and methods to come to a union of traditional form and modern function. Not a small job, but with Benoit & Czarneckis experienced crews and quality subcontractors it will prove to be an exciting and rewarding project.

The project will be a welcome challenge for the company, said John Czarnecki Operations Manager. A large renovation like this one really gives us the chance to excel. We have a chance to recreate the past in the present and to bring back a piece of history. This project gives us the opportunity to mimic the trades craftsmen of the turn of the century and reproduce their high standard of construction while blending with our more efficient methods and materials."
