Common Census Establishes Mutual Service Agreement with CompLink
Partnership Streamlines COBRA, HIPAA and FSA Processing
Westbrook, Maine  February 21, 2003  Common Census, Inc.®, a provider of employee benefit management, enrollment and billing solutions today announced it had formed a mutual service agreement with CompLink, L.P., a leading provider of COBRA and HIPAA compliance and FSA administration solutions.
ÂOur mutual service agreement allows Common Census customers to employ CompLink to meet all of their COBRA and HIPAA needs, said Daniel Freund, President of Common Census. ÂCompLink also performs the many processes and provides the documentation necessary for COBRA and HIPAA compliance. In addition, the CompLink agreement enables employers to offer Flexible Spending Accounts with debit cards. The end result is an employee will now have an online benefit statement, online interactive electronic forms will any carrier, online medical and dependent care reimbursement account balances all within a secure HIPAA compliant package. Its easy to use and comprehensive.Â
Common Census uses Syncapay® to link with ADP and other payroll systems that usually get first notice of employment changes that affect COBRA and HIPAA compliance. These changes flow through Common Census to CompLink who sends the appropriate COBRA or HIPAA documents. In turn, when the employees become ineligible CompLink will send a notice about COBRA and even follow through to the date final COBRA premiums are received.
ÂWith this integration HR departments will no longer have to act as bill collectors, added Freund. ÂAdditionally, as all of these activities are performed within federally mandated timeframes, HR is alleviated of the compliance burden.Â
CompLinkÂs automated communications are sent through a variety of functional means, including the Internet, email, fax, phone and file transfer. ÂThe Common Census and CompLink mutual service agreement will provide a great advantage for HR professionals, said A. Allen Gehrki, Senior Vice President of CompLink. ÂThis integration streamlines COBRA and HIPAA processes and allows HR to concentrate on core business issues.Â
