Virtual Classroom To Deliver Global Employment Law Training
The Federation of European Employers (FedEE) has just launched its new international employment law program
With members scattered around the globe, FedEE has been facing a major challenge in fulfilling one of its key objectives - to educate human resource professionals about country-specific labor relations and employment legislation.
Europe presents many difficulties for the multinational company, embracing over 50 separate legal jurisdictions with ever-changing employment practices and obligations. Moreover, preparations for the accession of 10 more countries to the European Union on May 1st 2004 has now made the task of keeping HR professionals up to date even more complex and time sensitive.
During the last two years FedEE's employment law masterclasses have brought together top legal experts from a dozen European countries to provide HR professionals with in-depth training sessions. But, although highly popular, this program has only been able to cater for a relatively small proportion of FedEE's rapidly expanding membership. Many could not spare the time for conventional seminars, and gathering the right mix of top legal experts at the same time and place was often a logistical imbroglio.
The answer was to develop a new, highly integrated distance learning approach. Continuing to draw upon the practical know-how of top lawyers from each country, training is now delivered via a series of on-line audio-visual presentations. The expert is linked to those viewing their presentations via several alternative feedback and communication options. When fully operation in May this year, the FedEE law program will permit HR professionals to pick and mix the elements of their learning experience from a wide selection of country options and also assess their own understanding through a series of on-line multiple choice tests.
Launching the new law program today, FedEE Secretary-General Robin Chater said that "we now offer an unrivalled opportunity for those working in multinational HR departments to access some of the best professional talents in the employment law field and to do so at no additional cost - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week".
