Youth Sports and Recreation Commission to Host Fifth Annual Lets Play Ball Registration Fair

The Youth Sports and Recreation Commission hosts the Lets Play Ball" registration fair for families looking for quality, organized sports and recreational programs in Detroit, Hamtramck and Highland Park.

The Youth Sports and Recreation Commission (PRWEB) February 27, 2003 -wide sports registration fair on Saturday, March 8, 2003, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Wayne State Universitys Matthaei Athletic Complex, 5101 John C. Lodge Service Drive at Warren Avenue. Lets Play Ball is co-sponsored by AAA Michigan, the Detroit Tigers, and Wayne State University. Admission to Lets Play Ball is free, however, fees may be required for some programs.

The goal of this fifth annual event is to attract hundreds of parents and their children, ages 6-17, to register for a variety of spring and summer sports activities. Coaches and representatives from youth baseball, t-ball, softball, soccer, track & field, football, cheerleading and other recreational programs in Detroit, Hamtramck and Highland Park will be available on-site with information and registration materials. Several of the Detroit Recreation Departments Recreation Centers will also be present with information on their programs and services.

Highlights for this years fair include programs specifically designed for adolescent girls and special needs youth. There will be plenty of fun with the Tune Up Man of JAMS 105.9FM; PAWS, the Detroit Tigers mascot; and a member of the WNBAs Detroit Shock.

The Youth Sports and Recreation Commission was launched in 1995. The objective of the Commission is to coordinate, advocate and support quality after-school and recreational programs for children and youth, ages 6-17, in Detroit, Hamtramck and Highland Park.
