New independent research proves that Business Information Publications’ contract information service, Contrax Weekly, publishes UP TO 67% more UK public sector contract announcements than the Official Journal of the European Communities (OJEC).

This important new research, which is highly relevant to companies wishing to source contract announcements, was carried out by Marketing Management Services International. It demonstrated that, over a nine-week period between October and December 2002, Contrax Weekly published on average 45.7% more UK & Irish contract announcements than the OJEC. The research also found that Contrax Weekly regularly significantly exceeded the figure of 50% more announcements, with the highest weekly figure recorded being an impressive 67.3%.

Contrax Weekly is just one of the services that BiP offer. When MoD contract announcements, which are also published through BiP, are included, the difference in number of BiP and OJEC contracts is even higher.

All these essential contract notices can be accessed though BiP’s email and online contract notification service, Tracker, which searches daily through all BiP’s products for new opportunities.

There are three main reasons why BiP publishes more contract opportunities than other providers:

•    Its team searches through hundreds of national and international newspapers, periodicals, electronic information services (including the OJEC) and public sector websites every day to source new open contract opportunities.

•    Over 800 UK government personnel use BiP’s PrOJECt electronic contract notice creation service, thereby ensuring that BiP receives hundreds of notices for publication first.

•    Other government organisations, knowing the value of exposing their tender opportunities to competition through BiP’s services, send their notices directly to BiP.

Notes to Editors - BiP Provides the Whole Picture

BiP guarantees to deliver more contract opportunities faster than any other service provider.

BiP’s emphasis on contract announcement research, and its online contract notice creation service, PrOJECt, ensures that its subscribers have access to an unrivalled contract information service, both in terms of quality and speedy delivery.

No other organisation has access to such a depth of contract information.

The research conducted by Marketing Management Services International follows up research carried out during last year and shows a substantial increase in the lead that BiP has over OJEC as the most comprehensive source for new tender opportunities. This increase is set to continue as BiP’s services are increasingly used by government to expose all their tenders to competition.

ABOUT BiP

Business Information Publications Ltd (BiP) was established in 1984 to facilitate business between the public and private sectors. What began with the publishing of public sector contract information has since developed into the provision of a comprehensive total procurement solution.

Today, BiP is one of Europe's leading information service providers to the public sector, providing it with not only electronic tendering solutions, website design and management, event management and online news services but also with a whole range of dedicated tender information services, specifically developed for both buyers and suppliers. In fact hundreds of government organisations use BiP’s tender notification information services, as do over 15,000 private sector companies.

These services are supported by BiP’s hosting of probably the world's largest database of current open-to-tender contract opportunities, of which the European Union OJEC data forms a small part. Our highly respected trade-focused publications (including those we publish for government) contain news, reports, feature articles and interviews with high-profile public figures.

BiP is also the only official UK publisher of MoD contract information and is recognised within government as an expert on issues relating to European public procurement processes and applications.

BiP’s service development is solely client-driven. In addition to providing its growing client base with more open contract notices and awards, faster than any other service provider, it also provides internet services and web management as a GTC* approved supplier, with technical and contract procedural support. BiP is also a leading provider of e-tendering procurement systems.

*Government Telecommunications Contracts (GTC) are a series of framework agreements, under OGCbuying.solutions, for the provision of telematic infrastructure services. BiP was the only service provider to be awarded a multi-year contract for Internet Services and Web Management, based solely on its expertise and experience. For customers this means that they can reduce costs and achieve value for money.
