Blues Recognition Day in Nebraska to be celebrated on May 17, 2003 with Nebraska Blues Summit in Lincoln
Lincoln, NE, February 26th, 2002 - What do you get when you gather up the best bands this great state has to offer? The Nebraska Blues Summit, scheduled to take place in Lincoln, NE at the Lancaster Event Center on Saturday May 17, 2003. The purpose of the Nebraska Blues Summit is to raise awareness and celebrate one of the purest forms of American music. Giving you the people of Nebraska a chance to hear the music you know and love, relying solely on Nebraska talent in doing so.
May 17th is statewide 'BLUES RECOGNITION DAY' thanks to the Governor Mike Johanns, who will sign a proclamation in April making it official. Making it your duty as a citizens of Nebraska to recognize and celebrate this great music with us.
The Nebraska Blues Summit is a day of food, fun, and music for the whole family. Delicious food will be served all day ranging from tastes of Tex-Mex, Cajun, and all the way to barbeque. The event will start off in the evening, with doors opening at 4pm and the music starting at 4:30 with One Eyed Tom from Lincoln, continuing on throughout the night with the Rex Granite Band, Satellite Blues Band, John Crews Band, and the Kris Lager Band. The show will be capped off with an all-star jam to close out the night featuring a couple of members from each of the bands.
