Lexington High Students to Strike in Order to Protest War on Iraq on March 5

Students at Lexington High School will skip their classes in order to protest the war on Iraq. Students not participating in the strike itself will be able to show their support in other ways on that day, March 5.

On March 5, 2003, students at Lexington High School, in Lexington, Massachusetts, will skip their classes in order to protest the prospect of war on Iraq and to promote a search for alternative solutions to war. Stations will be set up in the main hall where students both participating in the draft and not, can make pins, send letters, create signs, become informed, have debates and formulate opinons. There will be speakers in the auditorium throughout the day, including Toby Sackton, and George Carpaccio. At the end of school, many students will walk, signs in hand, to the Lexington Center Green, where there will be further protest, with the community involved. This student strike is affiliated with the National Youth Student Peace Coalition. Their website is nyspc.net.
