Glocalnet AB Expands use of Portal Software

Following Glocalnet's acquisition Telenordia's 270,000 residential customer base, Glocalnet has expanded its use of Portal software in order to keep its entire customer base on a single billing platform for all services, including ADSL, fixed-line voice, GSM voice and dial-up services. In doing so, Glocalnet has effectively tripled the size of its Portal implementation.

CUPERTINO, CA (PRWEB) March 2, 2003 - Glocalnet AB, the third-largest provider of convergent telecommunications services in Sweden, has expanded its use of Portal Software, Inc.s (Nasdaq: PRSF) convergent billing product, Infranet®. Glocalnet, a four-year Portal customer, gained 270,000 new customers through its acquisition of Telenordias residential customer base. In order to keep its entire customer base on a single billing platform for all services, including ADSL, fixed-line voice, GSM voice and dial-up services, Glocalnet has tripled the size of its Portal implementation. This announcement is further proof that Portal not only provides comprehensive and flexible solutions for complex billing issues, but also that Portal solutions can easily scale up as a service providers business grows.
Portal has been a tremendous technology partner for Glocalnet for the past several years, delivering an open billing platform that gives us the ability to package our offerings for specific customer needs while keeping an eye on our business objectives," said Anna Back, chief technology officer at Glocalnet AB. Offering both fixed-line and GSM voice as a bundled service, for example, allows us to provide that service at lower cost to our customers, get it out to market more quickly, and manage it all with a predictable and low total cost of ownership."

Glocalnet will use Portals open Infranet platform to consolidate billing for cross product bundling of voice, data and content and to speed time to market for new services. In addition to decreasing time to revenue, with all billing services operating on the same billing platform, Glocalnet benefits from not only reduced hardware and software investments but also much lower on-going operational costs across the organization.

The growth of our Glocalnet implementation is testament to the success of their business and the ability of Portal solutions to grow with our customers," said Chris M. Grejtak, senior vice president, marketing at Portal Software. Portal is focused on the primary areas that drive growth for telecommunications service providers: the rapid creation, bundling and roll-out of new value-add, revenue-generating services, and minimization of operational costs. Customers like Glocalnet understand that these benefits are inherent in Portals single-product approach to complex billing problems."
