Documentary Photographer Pioneers New Approach to Family Photography, Wins $10,000 Grant in Recognition of Her Unique Business Idea

Documentary photographer, Shaleece Haas, is named Extraordinary Woman Entrepreneur and awarded a $10,000 grant by the Balance® Bar Company. Haas specializes in high-end documentary photography for families.

Aeterna Photography, a New York-based company specializing in unique records of family life, announced today that its founder, Shaleece Haas, has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Balance® Bar Business Grant for Extraordinary Women Entrepreneurs.

Haas unique approach to family photography combines the traditions of fine art and documentary photography to capture candid images of daily life - everything from a father rousing the kids from bed in the morning or siblings fighting over the remote control, to the rare alone time a mother gets at the end of the day. By spending several full days with a family over a period of time, Haas, an experienced photojournalist, blends into the background, allowing people to relax and go about their daily lives. The result is a picture portfolio full of vitality and authenticity, rather than the customary stiff, awkward family portraits.
