Cleo LexiCom Certified eBusinessReady for AS2 EDI/XML Interoperability

Cleo® Communications, provider of data communications products and services since the mid 1980s, today announced that Cleo LexiCom again achieved eBusinessReady certification for AS2 EDI/XML interoperability.

LexiCom, performed extremely well throughout the rigorous testing process. The software underwent several rounds of tests to verify its certificate and data exchange, security, compression, and receipt capabilities. In addition, LexiCom successfully completed cross testing against all other participants products. The methodology of cross testing ensures interoperability among all products in the test round.

The eBusinessReady program provides neutral third party testing of software solutions for interoperability and compliance. eBusinessReady is a joint partnership of the Uniform Code Council, Inc. (UCC) and Drummond Group, Inc. (DGI).

AS2 (Applicability Statement 2) is a draft specification by which users transfer EDI or other data -- such as Extensible Marking Language (XML) documents -- over the Internet using the HTTP or HTTP/S protocol. AS2 offers distinct advantages over HTTP, including increased verification and security achieved through the use of receipts and digital signatures. Another edge for AS2: its transactions and acknowledgements occur in real-time, increasing the efficiency of document exchanges. Many retail giants including Wal-Mart have adopted the AS2 standard for EDI communications.
