Dems.US (http://www.dems.us) announced today the launch of the 2004 Bumper Sticker Presidential Primary, the first chance for eligible primary voters to make their vote count in the run for the 2004 Democratic presidential nomination. While thoroughly unscientific and notably non-binding, the effort is intended to promote participation in the electoral process in a fun and engaging manner.

Site encourages Democratic Presidential primary advocacy, participation and fun

North Plainfield, NJ. -- Dems.US (http://www.dems.us) announced today the launch of the 2004 Bumper Sticker Presidential Primary, the first chance for eligible primary voters to make their vote count in the run for the 2004 Democratic presidential nomination.
"With ten months to go before the Iowa Caucus and New Hampshire primary and nine qualified candidates, the 2004 Bumper Sticker Primary offers a chance for people to vote early and often," said Nathan Rudy, the Dems.US owner. "It's a fun way for people to learn more about the issues and advocate for their candidates."
Candidates in the running at the 2004 Bumper Sticker Primary receive a vote for every bumper sticker with their name that is purchased on the site. The site begins officially counting "votes" on March 1, 2003.
Additional votes can be cast be cast by sending in photos of advocacy or campaign efforts for posting on the site. Dems.US specifically requests photos of: bumper stickers (ours or anyone else's) on cars; groups holding a candidate's signs in a public place; a new voter being registered; and a picture with the candidate. Votes will be added for other advocacy and campaigning efforts at Dems.US' discretion.
The goal of the 2004 Bumper Sticker Primary is to engage potential Democratic primary voters in the process of selecting their nominee, and to do it in an entertaining and interactive manner.
Dems.US hosts a separate page for each of the nine candidates who have announced or filed exploratory paperwork with breaking news, a biographical sketch, and links to comprehensive information on the Internet. Additionally, the site provides message boards for each candidate to promote discussion among potential primary voters.
"Politics should be fun, and we made the 2004 Bumper Sticker Primary for fun," said Rudy. "The issues we disuss are very serious, but the only way we can get the people back in the voting booth is to make it fun again."
Over the intervening months before Iowa and New Hampshire, the 2004 Bumper Sticker Primary site will include polls, photos, messages from candidates and other resources for people to learn about the candidates and issues, and to have a good time doing it.
The declared or filed candidates currently in the running at the 2004 Bumper Sticker Primary are: Howard Dean; John Edwards; Dick Gephardt; Bob Graham; John Kerry; Dennis Kucinich; Joe Lieberman; Carol Moseley-Braun; and Al Sharpton. Candidate who are ineligible, are not running or have not declared who are listed are: Bill Clinton; Hillary Clinton; Tom Daschle and Gary Hart.
Additional bumper stickers will be created as more candidates declare. Bumper stickers are just $2.99 with $.60 shipping for the first sticker and $.10 for each additional sticker.
