A Variety of Spiritual Approaches Come Together

Glenview, IL - March 7, 2003 - In a time when religious differences are creating so much stress in our world, there is still space for hope when religions and spiritual paths set aside their differences to come together with a mutual goal. That is precisely whats happening here in Glenview, Illinois. On May 17, as many as fifteen spiritual groups - with a wide variety of backgrounds - will come together to discuss and practice each of their approaches to inner peace. They are inviting the public and hoping that those who attend will help bring greater diversity and greater unity at the same time.

The event begins at 8:30 a.m. with general discussions about each Pathway to Inner Peace" (the name of the event). One of the event organizers Mark Pendleton, says, We expect to see diversity as well as synchronicity within this part of the program." These general discussions will be followed by mini-sessions and hands-on workshops, allowing participants to learn more and actually experience several approaches to inner peace.

The day will end with a joining of all these groups in a single prayer for individual, community and world peace.

A list of traditions expected to present includes: Bahais, Christian Science, Himalayan Institute (Yoga), Islamic Cultural Center, Lutheran, Mennonite, Mystical Sciences Institute, Quaker, Unity, and the New Church, which is sponsoring the event. Others may still join.

The event, taking place at the Glenview New Church, welcomes the public. An admission fee of $15 covers the day long event and refreshments.
