The Psychology of Writing

A Writer Shares His Love For the Written Word and the Art of Writing

The Psychology of Writing
A Writer Shares His Love For the Art

By Geri O'Niell

American Fork, Utah--3-10-03--According to Websters New World Dictionary the word psychology is defined as the science dealing with the mind and with the mental and emotional process.

What is this passion for writing and why does it consume some individuals? I'm sure you know one. A person bent on becoming a writer and getting his work published.

Writing enthusiasts are a special breed of folk, and their passion for putting their thoughts down on paper for the whole world to see is based on various psychological factors that tend to be quite personal. To this end some industry specialists provide insight into the hearts and minds of the writer......

Randy Jernigan, a celebrity journalist and founder of The American Writers Fellowship, is also a passionate defender of writers and the written word. His writing can be read from magazine racks and checkout stands around the country in several national celebrity magazines weekly. And his book "This Thing Called Love: Love Stories to Gladden the Heart and Warm the Soul" has become a short fiction classic for romance readers.

"I think writing--and the reasons why we feel the need to write--is very personal and everyone has their own story," Randy noted. "There are a lot of people, for example, struggling to have a voice in the world. Wanting to share their thoughts and opinions in their own words. For most I think it's therapy. Our need to write and share what we've written is inborn in us--a natural reflex."

Randy says he recieves hundreds of emails and an additional 4000 to 5000 hits on his website each week from men and women (sometimes even children) who want to talk about their writing and how they can get their material published.

In 2002 Randy celebrated his 12th anniversary as a published author by developing The American Writers Fellowhip, an association of writers and publishers dedicated to the needs of the writer, published or not. "I saw a need. I know first hand how important it is for writers to get together, to collaborate and share, and i just wasn't impressed with what i saw out there. So I got together with some of my industry collegues--other authors, publishers, magazine editors, an agent friend, and formulated the Writers Fellowship. We're all very passionate about our writing and we want to help others who feel the same way."

Randy adds, "Our website isn't up yet--it'll be up soon, and we have some great opportunities for it's members. I believe we are all sent here with special talents and certain things that we are supposed to accomplish in this life. I believe the Writers Fellowship is just one of my own, and I hope that through the Fellowship others can achieve a few of their own goals too........"
