Upstate Citizens for Equality, Inc. announces formation of new chapter in New York.
The Niagara Frontier Chapter of Upstate Citizens for Equality is now conducting a membership drive in Erie, Niagara, Chautauqua, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming, Allegany, Monroe, Livingston, Steuben and Cattaraugus Counties. Upstate Citizens for Equality is a New York grassroots organization that seeks an expeditious and final resolution of all Indian land claims within the State of New York; the enforcement of New York State Tax Laws requiring the collection of sales tax by Indian merchants from non-Indian and non-member patrons; either the rescission or full legalization of gambling, but not the granting of a monopoly; enforcement and collection of the lawfully levied property taxes on all non-reservation Indian lands within the State of New York; the end of government sponsored inequalities in education, health and welfare programs.
The Niagara Frontier Chapter of Upstate Citizens for Equality was formed as a result of increased inquiries to the Seneca-Cayuga and Madison-Oneida Chapters from people in the western portion of New York. Currently the area in which the new chapter will operate is facing two pending Land Claims (Grand Island and Cuba Lake) and the imminent opening of at least three casinos. The new chapter will work towards mobilizing the citizens in the area, who agree with our goals, to work towards the achievement of the organization's 5 point platform.
Upstate Citizens for Equality was formed in 1994 to give the landowners facing the Oneida Land Claim a voice in what will determine their future. In 1999 the Seneca-Cayuga Chapter was formed in part to the Cayuga Land Claim. To learn more about our organization please visit us on the web at http://www.nfc-uce.net.
