11 March 2003 -- For Immediate Release:
Independent eBook publisher Crow Street Press (http://www.crowstreetpress.com/) has announced the publication of A Haunting in Tennessee: Three Historical Accounts of the Bell Witch Phenomenon. The book combines three hard-to-find volumes concerning the legendary "Bell Witch" haunting, including M.V. Ingram's Authenticated History of the Bell Witch, from 1894, Charles Bailey Bell's The Bell Witch: A Mysterious Spirit, and Harriet Parks Miller's The Bell Witch of Middle Tennessee. Also included is an introduction by Alan M. Clark and John Davis, "In the Shadow of the Bell Witch." Davis and Clark grew up in Tennessee, where the legend of the Bell Witch has persisted for 185 years, spawning nonfiction books, novels, websites, and even an annual convention, KateFest, in Adams, Tennessee.
The Bell Witch" phenomenon is North Americas most-researched, best-documented, and most disturbing haunting. "People don't tend to believe these kinds of stories in the 21st century," says A Haunting in Tennessee editor Bridget McKenna, "and I'm not personally inclined to believe them either, but something very strange happened in west-central Tennessee in the years between 1817 and 1828, and the hundreds of people who witnessed it were in no doubt that what they saw, heard, and felt was absolutely real. Their testimony is in the book. Read it and decide for yourself."
Initial publication will be in .lit format for Microsoft Reader, and the book will soon be available in .ebx (Adobe eBook Reader) and Palm Reader formats also.
