The Information Gateway That Protects Data; Rather Than Files
PortAuthority 2.0 is a server-based application that works by transparently fingerprinting" data, assigning an enforcement policy and blocking unauthorized communications. Far more sophisticated and easier to deploy than ordinary key-word/phrase content filtering systems, PortAuthority even protects data fragments that have been cut, copied and pasted into other files.. PortAuthority is so sophisticated that it is robust against attempts to circumvent detection by scrambling the text or inserting additional, non-related data into documents.
PortAuthority works by creating an electronic fingerprint" of data. These electronic fingerprints are tiny files that mathematically represent the information contained in protected documents. The fingerprints are stored on the PortAuthority server and are quickly checked for complete or partial matches as information is moved around the network. When a user creates a document and saves it to a protected directory on a PC or fileserver, PortAuthority automatically fingerprints the data and is updated when the file is modified. PA provides for the enforcement of distribution rules by monitoring, notifying and blocking breach attempts in real time.

Our customers maintain a significant quantity of high-value IP in digital form," stated Vidius CEO, Craig Moody. From customer records and financial data to scientific formulas and computer source code -- all need to be secured without imposing processes that limit productivity by encrypting data, requiring passwords or converting data to non-standard files that utilize proprietary viewing software. Our customers recognize that encryption software and digital rights management provide only limited security and cannot prevent unencrypted data from leaving their enterprise. PortAuthority forms an internal security perimeter -- like Firewalls do for networks externally -- that acts as an information gatekeeper for proprietary data."
Pricing and Availability
PortAuthority is now available in several versions for organizations of all sizes including PortAuthority Enterprise, PortAuthority Small Business Edition (SBE), PortAuthority Net Appliance & PortAuthority International (Japanese). Pricing starts at $8,250.00 and sold on a per seat basis.
