MobilCom presents at Cebit exhibition MyPhoneSettings": a remote handset configuration solution powered by Swapcom
Hanover, March 12th, 2002 -- Swapcom, European leader in mobile software, has announced today that MobilCom, a leading German Service Provider, will present the MyPhoneSettings" remote configuration solution in avant-premiere to its subscribers during the Cebit2003 exhibition.
Many customers in Europe who already have a WAP, GPRS, MMS mobile phone, have not actually started using the new features simply because they have not configured their phone yet, or tried to and rapidly gave up. As mobile phones get more and more complicated, being able to actually use the phone with a few key presses - and no long complicated set-up procedures - will become more and more critical to the success of both 2.5G mobile phones and new mobile services.
To solve that matter, Swapcom has provided MobilCom with 'MyPhoneSettings, offering mobile users easy configuration of their phones to cut down the usage barrier of new high revenue generating data services.
As of today, users can skip manual configuration and complicated instructions before using their new Wap, GPRS or MMS phone. MyPhoneSettings enables MobilComs customers to remotely configure their handsets in one easy step and become active users in seconds, not month. They just have to supply basic information such as their handset model and phone number via a Web interface. The application then automatically configures the mobile phones directly via SMS .
This configuration is available for compatible Nokia, Siemens, Sony-Ericsson, Samsung, Alcatel, Panasonic, Motorola and Philips handsets.
Our approach to our customers is to make as simple as possible", said Mr Stefan Brauer, head of Marketing at MobilCom. Swapcom's solution is easy to use and fits perfectly in our product strategy."
Several European Mobile companies like MobilCom were seduced by the simplicity and ease of use of 'MyPhoneSettings. In one click, an inactive user becomes an active and Ready-To-Consume user of Value-Added Services" said Ruth Stockinger, Swapcom Northern Europe Sales Manager.
