COMEDIAN CHARLIE HILL TO ENTERTAIN NE NATIVE SCHOOLS

Walthill Public School has invited the four schools of the Nebraska Native American Consortium to a performance by renowned Comedian Charlie Hill Friday, March 21.

WALTHILL, NE --- On Friday, March 21 Nebraskas four Native American schools -- Walthill, Santee, Omaha Nation, and Winnebago -- will meet at the Siouxland Convention Center in South Sioux City for a performance by American Indian comic Charlie Hill. Organized by Walthill Public School, the event is intended to inspire Native youngsters and to promote a sense of camaraderie among the four schools.

Hill's performance will begin at 1:30 pm and will last for about an hour and a half. Charlie Hills career as an actor, writer, and comedian spans three decades. He played Lindsay Wagners love interest in The Bionic Woman, and was head writer for the Roseanne show. As a comedian, he has six appearances on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno to his credit, and he is scheduled to appear on David Lettermans Late Show in June, 2003. His TV special On and Off the Res" was nominated for an Emmy last year.

Hill received the American Indian Entertainer of the Year award four times, and he was voted the number one Indian Comedian in America. Walthill Public School organized the event. Invitations were sent to the four schools in the Nebraska Native American Consortium, as well as the respective boards of education and the councils of the Omaha, Winnebago, and Santee Sioux tribes.

Walthill superintendent Larry Frost believes Hills appearance will will inspire Native youngsters. I think this will be a good thing for the kids," he said. They will have a chance to see a Native American who has had a lot of success in his life."
