Self Publishing is the New Frontier for Writers.
With the large publishing houses becoming increasingy stingy and unforgiving, many talented writers are choosing the self-publish option. Using modern technology, Derek McCann was able to self-publish his controversial novel.
Derek's McCann's first novel, Incest of the Trinity, has been published by iuniverse.com. The book, about a self-hating homosexual man who plots the murder of his brother (his first sexual experience), was repeatedly turned down by traditional publishers so Mr. McCann decided to use the benefits of modern technology. Print on Demand publishing has made it possible for Mr. McCann and hundreds of other talented writers to get their name in print, proverbially getting their foot in the door.
Literary experts have recently referred to the novel format as a dying art form, but with the advent of on demand publishing, others may view this as a misconception. Similar to Independent Film, this new brand of novelist is bohemian, willing to take chances that mainstream writers would rather not take. Derek McCann's, Incest of the Trinity, is another example of this type of risk storytelling, and as more writers discover the benefits of the New Publishing, the lesser the stranglehold will be from the conglomerate publishing houses.
