Be Wise: Preventing Elder Financial Abuse, a video produced by Marin-based California Community Partnership for the Prevention of Financial Abuse (CCPPFA) and Redwood Citys White Light Productions has just received The Crystal Award of Excellence from The Communicators Award, a consortium of communication professionals.
Be Wise: Preventing Elder Financial Abuse is designed to train financial institution employees how to recognize and report suspected financial abuse of elders. It features an introduction by California State Attorney General Bill Lockyer and includes a reference booklet to provide employees of financial institutions with the latest comprehensive information on warning signs of financial abuse and tips on how to effectively respond.
The 24-minute video, highly regarded by professional communication peers, was recognized for its excellence in communication and was judged solely on its quality, creativity and resourcefulness.
Distributed nationally by Bankers Training and Consulting Company, it also includes a management-training module and sample policies, reporting documents, legal reference material, and a listing of appropriate agencies to contact to report suspected abuse.
According to David L. Chatfield, President & CEO of the California & Nevada Credit Union Leagues, "This video provides valuable training for all financial institution employees and can help us prevent the terrible losses that financial abuse creates for our consumers."
The video is endorsed by California State Attorney General Bill Lockyer, California Credit Union League, California Department of Corporations-Senior's Against Investment Fraud Program, California District Attorney's Association and California State Sheriff's Association.
CCPPFA is a non-profit organization committed to the development of a statewide collaborative effort between private and public sectors to prevent elder financial abuse through education and community awareness.
Communicator Awards is an international awards program founded by communications professionals. Annual competitions for are held in October, Video/Film/Multi-Media in November and Print Media in February. Entries are judged against a high standard of excellence rather than against each other.
