Finally Software to Offer Managed PKI Service

PKI Service Will Stimulate Market

Security Software specialist, Finally Software announced today that it would provide a Managed PKI Service for companies wanting to adopt PKI but who did not want to set up and run a Certificate Authority. The service would be based on Finallys OnePKI products.

Many companies have looked at and tested a PKI but have been put off at having to set up the infrastructure needed to issue and manage certificates" said Peter Christou, President of Finally Software. For a quarterly fee based on the number of users, we will provide all the software, the infrastructure and the management on their behalf", he ended.

Finally Managed PKI Service will:
·   Maintain and operate a certificate service for the duration of the contract.
·   Host the PKI software and necessary directory software on suitable hardware in a secure location.
·   Maintain security of the OnePKI software by the careful use of authentication possibly using smart cards.
·   Issue new certificates on request from the 'customer'
·   Provide a web service for automatic remote certificate issuance using the OnePKI Web LCA facilities and a directory service for the distribution of the user's public keys and CRLs.
·   Revoke existing certificates on request from the customer.
·   Issue certificate revocation lists (CRLs) to the directory on a regular basis for external validation of the certificates by the customer application.
·   Perform regular archiving of the data files in case of system failures.
·   Recover data following system failures.
·    Store private keys centrally for the purposes of key recovery in the event of a damaged or lost private key certificate.
·    Provide a key recovery service for the customer with appropriate security controls.
·    Provide monthly activity records with necessary data to allow customer billing.
The service will be available from May.
