Jong Yan ( Zhong-Yang Huang) An emerging Master!
His credo: Aim high and aim at beauty".
At the age of eight, Yangs instructors thought that one day he would go on to become a great artist - time has proven them right.
Born in Guangzhou, China in 1949, his talents were recognized early, and he received formal training in traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy.
During the Cultural Revolution, the government put a halt to individuality" and at the age of 15, he was forced to work as a laborer in the fields for ten years. Although he was in exile", he continued to paint avidly. In 1978 Yang was accepted as a Master" student by the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and received his Masters Degree in 1981. He worked there as an Instructor until 1984, when he was given the opportunity to travel to Canada. As a visiting student he completed his studies and received his second Masters Degree from the University of Regina in Saskatchewan.
He took up residence in Canada, and although he became immersed in Canadian culture, his work continues to this day to be influenced by Chinese history. The suffering endured by his own family, became an artistic vehicle through which he could express his creativity and emotion
In October 2002, in recognition of his contributions to the country, the Protocol Office of the Government of Saskatchewan awarded Yang the Commemorative Medal" for the Queen of England and Canadas Golden Jubilee. An incredible national honor!
Yang uses the western version of his name, Jong Yan, to sign his works. He follows his credo: Aim high and aim at beauty" in his everyday life.
Every one of his paintings has a meaning!
If you're looking for the world's next master, Jong Yan certainly has the talent!
Some artists paint to live"...............Yang lives to paint".
