MOVIE COMPANY PROTESTS HOLLYWOOD BASHING

The oldest movie company in America protests the the bashing of Hollywood

Recently in the media, the term Hollywood" has been made synonymous with demoralized values, and anti-Americanism.

Biograph studios is outraged at the misrepresentation of Hollywood, and the continued bias misuse of the word Hollywood".

The American Mutoscope and Biograph Company is the oldest movie company in America, established in 1895, establishes its permanent corporate headquarters and future studios in Hollywood. Biograph launched the careers of many move legends; director D. W. Griffith, Mary Pickford, Lillian Gish, Lionel Barrymore, and Blanche Sweet among many others.

Biograph's link to Hollywood goes back to 1910 when Griffith discovered the little village, and made "In Old California" the first movie in Hollywood. A monument commemorating this is in the works to be placed on Hollywood Blvd.

Thomas R. Bond, II who is President of Biograph and an ex-broadcaster from radio and televison himself cannot believe the inaccuracies. Hollywood is a place, not a term. It is not anti-American or ridden with wild parties and debochery. This is like saying all members of a certain race act a certain way. This kind of bias against our community or anyone is unacceptable."

The image most recently portrayed of Hollywood is anti war demonstrations depicting what seems like the majority of people in the entertainment industry.

Hollywood is like any other American community. Its a place where one can speak their mind, its a freedom that Americans have fought and died for.

But many celebrities that are pro American like Kirk Douglas, John Malkovich, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Heather Locklear and even Tommy Chong, seldom have any media coverage. Bond says, There is a form of bias against our district and it needs to stop now. Bond continues Hollywood is an actual place, why does everyone blame Hollywood for one groups actions? This unrelenting bashing must stop now".

Hollywood in reality is a small 18-mile wide district of the City of Los Angeles. It is a small community made of restaurants, shops, theatres, and a few production studios. Recently it is undergoing a renovation to make it a family oriented area for tourists and filmmakers alike. This is being done by the Chamber of Commerce and L. A.s new police chief Bill Bratton who was past NYPD Police Commissioner, and helped Mayor Rudolph Giuliani renovate New York City.

But now Bond feels the district of Hollywoods image is at stake. Most people here support our country, but are not heard from because they are busy working, trying to make a living and do not have the time for marching down the boulevard."

Hollywood is a place, and is a business community. Hollywood has entertainment as its heritage, and is a place where your dreams can come true.
