Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center Licenses Haptek Generation 4 Software

Cincinnati Childrens is a world leader in pediatric research, care and education. Information management specialists there are using Haptek software to train researchers to use advanced computational resources, and plans are underway to use the software to communicate directly with patients.

Haptek, Inc., today announced a licensing arrangement with Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the University of Cincinnati to use Haptek Generation 4 software as the interactive character solution in several medical and research projects.

Cincinnati Childrens is a world leader in pediatric research, care and education. Information management specialists there are using Haptek software to train researchers to use advanced computational resources, and plans are underway to use the software to communicate directly with patients.

Haptek is the clear choice to fill our artificial character needs," said Dr. John Pestian, associate professor of pediatrics and director of the Division of Pediatric Informatics at Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation. Hapteks automated characters are perfect for our web-based knowledge management system. In addition, we have a very big project that I expect will be very helpful to the children in our community. We handle a lot of child abuse and neglect cases. We feel that the Haptek character is a perfect fit for our ongoing efforts to communicate with these kids. They will be more inclined to share their feelings and engage with these leading-edge, interactive characters than with a real person."

Haptek software creates photo-realistic, 3-D, full-bodied, fully automated, morphing and emotive characters in dynamic environments. The characters are non-repetitive and visually and verbally interact with the user and with one another over the Internet, in real time and at virtually any bandwidth. Hapteks recently released Generation 4 technology leads the industry, setting a new standard for fully interactive virtual character technology.

The Pediatric Informatics Division conducts clinical-genomic research and provides researchers at Cincinnati Childrens and the University of Cincinnati with core scientific support. The Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation ranks third nationally among all pediatric centers in research grants from the National Institutes of Health. A 373-bed institution dedicated to the pursuit of perfect health care, Cincinnati Childrens Hospital Medical Center is the only pediatric organization in the United States to receive the prestigious Pursuing Perfection grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
