Emerald City Music Group is proud to announce the release of "Ear Protection" - the new CD from the Seattle hip-hop group, Rebelz.
This CD, distributed by 101 Distribution, is available at just about all music retailers nationwide and is full of songs that offer much-needed "ear protection" from all of the recycled music on today's radio airwaves. With an abstract blend of reggae, hip-hop, and various other influences, this CD is refreshingly different and contains something for everyone. Touching on more than the typical "pop-music" subject matter, The Rebelz are bringing forth a new language of hip-hop that appeals to the masses.

The Rebelz have been tearing up the live scene in the Pacific Northwest for years and have established a dedicated and consistant following. The "Ear Protection" CD, which is their national debut, shows exactly why the group has gained such a following. The songs on this CD fit into the Hip-hop genre, but with help from a reggae band, a japanese-speaking emcee, and a wide array of influences, the band carefully expands beyond the average person's perception of a hip-hop group. Although most of the content is clean, there are a few tracks that might not be radio-friendly. Radio edited versions of all the songs are available upon request.

***Group History***

The Rebelz began in 1999 as a busking freestyle collaboration in the Pike District of Seattle. After direction from Duke Jahmell from "Brothers of a Same Mind," they began recording and performing in September of 2000. Collaborating with Beat Box Productions, the group debuted on a Demo and started performing at local night clubs in the North West. By September of 2001 The Rebelz were ready to record their first independent EP "Rebel Yell 2K1" and enjoyed the success of street sales and local praise. After joining with Emerald City Music group in January 2002 direction of the group and refinement of the music began. In March Rebelz re-released singles from Rebel Yell which elevated the Rebelz both musically and commercially. By the end of the summer they had been selected to tour Japan, signed an independent record deal, secured distribution, received promotional investment, and generated a large buzz in the community. With a large following in the Northwest, completion of the next Rebelz album, and a nice record store presence, The Rebelz look to a broad horizon of success in 2003.
