NATURALLY VITAMINS STANDARDS ALREADY MEET FDA PROPOSED REGULATION

Naturally Vitamins supports - and already meets - the FDAs recent proposed regulations for dietary supplements. "Customers have a right to know whats in the supplements they buy, and they should expect those supplements to be manufactured, maintained and shipped under optimal conditions," said Joe Lehmann, president of Naturally Vitamins.

PHOENIX (PRWEB) March 22, 2003 -- Naturally Vitamins, a pioneer in the nutritional supplement industry, released a statement today regarding the recent Food and Drug Administrations (FDA) proposed regulation for dietary supplements. We wholeheartedly support the FDAs proposal. Customers have a right to know whats in the supplements they buy, and they should expect those supplements to be manufactured, maintained and shipped under optimal conditions," said Joe Lehmann, president of Naturally Vitamins.

The proposed regulation requires manufacturers to evaluate the identity, purity, quality, strength and composition of their dietary supplements. The regulation would also include requirements for the design and construction of physical plants in establishing quality effectiveness and safety of dietary supplements.

Naturally Vitamins anticipated the issues presented in the FDA proposal, which served as motivation for the design and construction of their facility. The Naturally Vitamins facility was also built to accommodate Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certification, even though -- at the time the facility was built -- the law did not require it for nutritional supplement manufacturers. As a result, nearly all manufacturing operations are robotic. State-of-the-art, two-level design prevents human contact with raw materials, and blended ingredients are automatically fed into tableting and encapsulation lines.

We invested considerable capital in our manufacturing facility because were committed to producing the highest quality nutritional supplements, said Lehmann.

Manufacturing is just one component of the Naturally Vitamins facility. Even Naturally Vitamins in-house laboratory is above industry standards," said Emelie Gunter, laboratory manager for Naturally Vitamins. All supplemental facts stated on our labels are substantiated by our in-house testing methods, which encompass a wide variety of biochemical methodologies and instrumentation. Then, all products are shipped with a Certificate of Analysis, which guarantees our products contain whats stated on the label," continued Gunter.

Packaging, maintenance, storage and shipping of finished goods are also important components of Naturallys facility. Our completely climate-controlled facility is moisture controlled with a maximum 33% humidity in the GMP area. This is important to avoid oxidation of our products," said Lehmann. And, our commitment to the environment is reflected in our use of recycled paper, recyclable shipping cartons and biodegradable packaging materials. Even our used packaging materials are recycled."

The Naturally Vitamins facility is also energy conscious, as a portion of its operations are powered by solar energy. It features an energy-saving heating and cooling system and energy-efficient landscaping. The lush greenbelt surrounding the facility includes over 300 trees and plants, which absorb moisture and provide shade during the hot Arizona summers.

Naturally Vitamins, a Marlyn Nutraceuticals, Inc. company, is a leading manufacturer of nutritional supplements.
