We wholeheartedly support the FDAs proposal. The proposed regulation requires manufacturers to evaluate the identity, purity, quality, strength and composition of their dietary supplements. The regulation would also include requirements for the design and construction of physical plants in establishing quality effectiveness and safety of dietary supplements.

Naturally Vitamins anticipated the issues presented in the FDA proposal, which served as motivation for the design and construction of their facility. The Naturally Vitamins facility was also built to accommodate Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certification, even though -- at the time the facility was built -- the law did not require it for nutritional supplement manufacturers. As a result, nearly all manufacturing operations are robotic. State-of-the-art, two-level design prevents human contact with raw materials, and blended ingredients are automatically fed into tableting and encapsulation lines.
