LASERTECH RECYCLING PROGRAMME, SAVE MONEY AND PROTECT THE ENVIROMENT

After successfully recycling for 13 years Lasertech, manufacturer and supplier of Printer Consumables today announce a dedicated programme to allow businesses, schools, charities and organisations benefit from recycling printer consumable waste as well as protecting the environment.

Lasertech are one of only a small number of companies in the UK who are licensed to collect Used Printer Cartridges for recycling. The law states that every business has a duty of care to take reasonable steps to keep waste safe. If you give Used Printer Cartridges to someone else you must be sure they are licensed to remove, transport, recycle or dispose of it safely.

It is estimated that in 1999 alone over 7 million Printer Toner Cartridges were consumed in the UK. Only 25% of these were recycled which means that at least 5.25 million were thrown away as waste and ended up in landfills. The materials used to make a Toner Cartridge takes over 100 years to decompose, this means the Lasertech Recycling Programme will help cut the amount of waste plastic and metal ending up in the UK landfills.

Lasertech provide businesses, schools and charities throughout the country with collection bins to save their used toner and ink cartridges in. Once the bins are full Lasertech will arrange for a free collection and pay for the empty cartridges, offering customers the option to either save money for their business, raise money for a Lasertech Affiliated Charity or receive the full value in high street shopping vouchers.

Lasertech will then recycle the Used Cartridges. If the outer case of the toner cartridge is in good condition then it will be reused as a shell for a new manufactured Printer Toner Cartridge. All the internal components of the cartridges will be turned back into their base form. These base materials are often used to make products such as buttons, plastic trays, wire spools, tractor parts amongst other useful items that in turn are recyclable. Recycling in this way reduces the amount of waste entering the environment.

Lasertech has teamed up with a number of well known charities who will benefit from the Recycling Programme. Amongst these are Breakthrough Breast Cancer and The Princes Trust.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer is a charity committed to fighting breast cancer through research and awareness, Breakthrough Breast Cancer know that being a Lasertech Affiliated Charity will help achieve their vision and raise will help their cause.

Lasertech was founded with the help of the Princes Trust and have always been in close contact with the Trust and its work. As an Affiliated Lasertech Charity the Princes Trust will receive the benefits of the Programme which will then give other young entrepreneurs the opportunity to be successful and follow in the footsteps of Lasertech as being a well established profitable business.
