Newborn Puppies and Their Mothers Rescued from Death

The Noah's Ark Project recently rescued healthy puppies and their mother from a New York City animal shelter. Although the pups had been available for adoption for only a few hours, they were going to be killed to make room for more homeless animals. Fortunately, the Ark Project temporarily adopted the dogs before any further harm could be done.

New York (PRWEB) March 23, 2003 --With only hours to spare, Noah's Ark Project successfully saved several healthy puppies and their mothers from being killed this past weekend. Many of the puppies had only been available for adoption for mere hours, but in order to make room even more homeless animals, a local city shelter wanted to throw them away one-by-one, along with the new mother.

That's when the volunteers at Noah's Ark stepped in and temporarily adopted them. "We need to place them ASAP, Maria Barnett, Director, said. "There are other dogs left behind that have only a few days to get rescued from the shelter or they'll be put to sleep, too."

These loving pets are now available for adoption. A total of 25 puppies and dogs, and over 60 kittens and cats, are waiting to be adopted at the shelter. While these animals now enjoy a safe haven, they need to find homes so that others may be given a chance, too.

The Ark Project is a no-kill shelter in NYC located in Queens that specializes in rescuing dogs and cats from dangerous situations. This includes rescue operations from other shelters, and a comprehensive program to help prevent animal cruelty. This program includes low-cost spay/neuter and veterinarian services and trap/neuter/release program for feral cats (they lend cat traps to the public).
