If someone dropped toxic gas in your city, where would it go? 3D Pipeline Corporation today announced BioChemFX, a realtime gas dispersion simulation system. Designed by physicists, BioChemFX allows accurate and rapid visualization of chemical and biological contaminants in real-world urban environments. BioChemFX can represent either vapor density or overall toxicity levels for over 25 of the most common bio-chemical agents. For an accurate view of emergency conditions, BioChemFX considers wind, rain, buildings, turbulence and other complex real world interactions.
In a continuing effort to provide useful visualization technologies for the government and DoD community, 3D Pipeline created BioChemFX. It provides a highly extensible basis for further gas and particle simulation, with a focus on fast, versatile visualization. This technology allows quick modeling of what if" scenarios for emergency and rescue personnel, among others. Rapid analysis of a threat is facilitated by map-based representations.
BioChemFX accurately simulates both explosive and continuous gas emissions. Based on 3-dimensional algorithms, BioChemFX operates in real time when depicting a 2D scene. Equally accurate 3D analysis is also available, with speed dependent upon scene resolution and processing power.
The package is programmed in C/C++, and runs on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware. BioChemFX can be integrated into visualization and simulation packages via a simple and intuitive Application Programmers Interface (API).

As part of a continuing effort to reproduce the real world in virtual space, 3D Pipeline has created a wide array of simulation libraries. From underwater light refraction to radio wave dispersion, we make a science of what has, until now, been an art.
