Asian and Islamic Arts and Antiques Shopping -
With An Aim to Educate
WASHINGTON, DC - March 27, 2003 - TreasuresOfTheSilkRoad.com, an internet gallery, offers quality Asian and Islamic Arts and Antiques from the area between Istanbul, Turkey and Beijing, China--but also History, Peoples, and Links sections aiming to educate its visitors about the ancient geographic region known as the Silk Road.
TreasuresOfTheSilkRoad.com features secure on-line shopping and a tastefully selected variety of quality artifacts sure to grace the home of the selective collector. To date, the collection includes a rich variety of Buddhist sculpture, Tibetan chests and altar tables, Islamic calligraphy, metalwork, ceramics, textiles, and Chinese furniture. The proprietors of TreasuresOfTheSilkRoad.com, Rene & Jasmin Ragan, emphasize quality over quantity. All items are selected according to whether or not they would be included in their personal collection.
As a husband-and-wife team with an international relations background, they established TreasuresOfTheSilkRoad.com in 2002 to share their life-long interest in Asia's rich heritage with the public on a professional basis, while increasing interest in the cultures of a geographic area that has long been marginalized. They believe that traveling to foreign countries, interacting with other cultures on a one-on-one basis, and collecting their arts in a responsible way can do nothing but add to and enrich cross-cultural understanding. Some people in Washington, D.C., may disagree.
