English Students Face Difficult Times

It is estimated that there are more students in China studying English right now than there are native English speakers in the rest of the world. Imagine that! And as technology improves and the world becomes a smaller place, more and more companies look beyond their own boarders to find new markets and business opportunities.

What does this mean?

If you want to compete in the global marketplace, you better speak English. Like it or not, the international language of business is English and students all over the world are flocking to English classes, private tutors and yes, the Internet, for help with their studies.

The challenge with using the web for English practice is that there are so many websites, it is very difficult to find the good ones. Fortunately, there are also some very good ones and many of them are free. Here are three time-saving tips for finding credible places for online English help:

1.   Search using specific and multiple keywords. For example, if you want to practice the TOEFL exam, use the keywords TOEFL, help, tests, online." By using multiple words, you are more likely to avoid the useless and annoying sites that only host links to other actual learning sites.

2.   Make sure the site is a credible source. There is a LOT of bad information on the web but if you are studying on a university site or a well-known English school site, chances are pretty good that you will be studying accurate information. Nothing is worse than studying and learning something, only to later find out that what you were studying is wrong. By visiting credible sites, you can avoid this problem.

3.   Avoid sites that try to sell you everything. There are basically two kinds of websites for the English student. The first kind tries to sell you a product or products that claim to help you learn English. Some are good and some are bad but if you are looking for English help, visit the second kind of websites. These are the ones that provide information. If a site offers good information and resources to students and the students are happy with the site, the site will find other ways to make money. They dont need to charge the English student.

Yes, the global market is very competitive but there are also more opportunities than every before. Remember, many people have learned English and are using it to find the job of their dreams. I hope these tips help. Keep practicing and more importantly, keep believing in yourself. Good luck.
