Photeon Technologies -- The First European Company to Sample 64-Channel AWG Device

One of the leading European optical chip design centers announces sampling of a 64-channel AWG device to increase the transmission capacity of fibers and speed up data transfer.

Atlanta, USA, Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibition - March 24, 2003 -- Photeon Technologies, a European company focusing on the design of quality integrated optical components and modules, today announced they have sampled a 50GHz, 64-channel AWG device.

64-channel AWG

The 64-channel AWG device is a very cost-effective means of increasing the transmission capacity of a fiber. It features very low crosstalk background level, very low crosstalk, low insertion loss, accurate channel alignment and high channel-to-channel uniformity.

These new 50GHz and 100GHz channel multiplexing and demultiplexing modules with active temperature stabilization are also available in 4, 8, 16, 32 and 40 channel counts. Athermal packaging is available on request.

We are very pleased that we are one of the first companies to provide 64-channel AWG devices. These devices are available in an active temperature controlled version as well as in an athermal version", said Dr. Heinz Seyringer, General Manager of Photeon.

Photeon will present the devices at the Optical Fiber Communication (OFC) Exposition in Atlanta from 23 to 28 March 2003 at their booth 6518.
