Winners Announced in 'Worlds Smallest Film Festival Competition Held in New Orleans at CTIA Wireless 2003

Top entries selected in nine different categories from a list of 30 finalists and more than 100 submissions sent in by filmmakers around the world. Categories ranged from animation and comedy to commercial and drama. CTIA 'Best of Show also awarded.

March 28, 2003 -- Los Angeles, CA -- BigDigit, Inc. today released the names of the winning film entries in the Worlds Smallest Film Festival, which will took place recently at the CTIA Wireless 2003 conference and trade show in New Orleans, LA.

The first-of-its-kind festival showcased a variety of digital film content that is designed for presentation on next-generation wireless phones. BigDigit Inc., producer of this first-of-its-kind event, screened the finalists and winning entries at an awards ceremony held during the CTIA conference. Some entries were also presented on cellular phones at the show, and were screened as a part of keynote presentations at CTIA. The awards ceremony was preceded by discussions and presentations by representatives from both the technology and media communities, including a number of well-known filmmakers who submitted works to the event.

The winning film entries in the first annual Worlds Smallest Film Festival", selected by a panel of independent judges, are:

** Statues Quo, by Oren Ben-Tov (Animation)

** Love Bytes, Episode 2, by Frank Chindamo (Comedy)

** Speedos, by Rich Underwood (Commercial)

** Small Moon, by Stuart Reeves (Drama)

** Astrology 3D, by David Traub (Episodic)

** Falls, by Edmundo Roman (Experimental)

** Dr. Pollywog Talks About Gravity, By J.F. Robinson (Instructional)

** Just in Case, by Dutch Rall (Music Video)

** Freefallin, by J.F. Robinson (Sports)


The "Best of Show' film entry, selected by attendees at the CTIA Wireless 2003 and those visiting and viewing the finalists at the BigDigit Worlds Smallest Film Festival" Web site, 'Falls', by Edmundo Roman.

The winning filmmakers will be presented with an award specially designed for the festival, as well as a document signifying their participation and accomplishment in this event. Companies sponsoring this years event included Intel Corp., PacketVideo Corp., BMW Films, FrogPad, Inc., Sennari Interactive, LightSurf Technologies, Inc., laplink, Inc. and Nokia Corp.
BigDigit is presently planning additional film festival events worldwide, including places in Europe, Latin America, Asia and North America.
