Bluebottle Opens Anti-spam Technology
Melbourne, Australia - 28 March 2003
Bluebottle Systems announced today that their anti-spam technology will be made available through open-source licensing.
Bluebottle's anti-spam system works by only accepting email from known senders. When Bluebottle receives an email from a sender not on a user's allowed list, the email is blocked and a verification request is sent asking the sender to please verify themselves in one of two ways. The required response to these verification requests automatically places the sender's address on the user's 'Allowed' list, and the email is delivered without delay.
These verification requests are unlikely to be received or responded to by a spammer, as in most cases the email address has been forged.
Bluebottle's CEO, Robert Pickup commented, "Our technology has proven to be 100% effective in blocking unwanted email since our launch last August, and I am pleased that many more people will be able to enjoy the benefit of spam free email through our open-source licensing program. I do hope that service providers and enterprises will implement this effective spam prevention technology on behalf of their customers and staff."
