Poems show highs and lows of young man's journey to sobriety, in Dave Breslin's new book:
THIS SOBER LIFE
This Sober Life is a poetic look into the mind of a young man as he struggles with his addiction to alcohol. As Dave Breslin opens the door to sobriety he spills his heart into each line he writes and displays his honest emotions on to the page from his lowest points to where he stands two and a half years later. Like each day of sobriety, each poem helps build and surface the true person behind the disease giving him the strength to battle through his addiction and severe depression. Watch as this seemingly never-ending path of confusion, denial, anger, pain and loss brings this man to the realization of himself as a totally new person ready to take on a whole new life.

Dave Breslin's new book of poetry, THIS SOBER LIFE, gives readers a deep look into the mind of a young alcoholic as he begins his journey to sobriety. Like each day of sobriety, each poem helps build and bring to the surface the true person behind the disease. Poetry gives Breslin the strength to battle his addiction and severe depression.
"THIS SOBER LIFE was written as I battled with the thoughts and feelings each poem displays," says Breslin. "My goals with this book are to help those who are dealing with alcoholism themselves to understand some of the feelings they may encounter throughout their own sober life." He also hopes that his poetry will give his readers inspiration to find an alternative to drinking and help show there really is light at the end of the long tunnel of addiction.
Breslin began writing soon after he became aware of his alcoholism at the age of nineteen. The poems included in THIS SOBER LIFE are those written during his first two and a half years of sobriety. Breslin was born in and currently resides in Massachusetts. The 22-year-old continues to write poetry. He hopes his writing will not only help others to stay sober but also help him deal with and continue living through this sober life.
