For Immediate Release

Counting Crows drummer Ben Mize performs on new record by Beth Waters.

Counting Crows drummer Ben Mize recently left the band to pursue a solo career in December of last year. While in San Francisco, playing sold out farewell shows at the Warfield, he took time out to perform on Beth Waters forthcoming self-titled album. The album is due to be released May 1st, 2003 on Waters own Mermaid Mafia Records in partnership with management company PJR Enterprises. Waters has been compared to Tori Amos and Sarah McLachlan.

Waters feels this album is her best yet. Featuring innovative piano pop songs with intelligent lyrics, she accomplishes a perfect balance of mainstream and independent music. Mixed by veteran mix engineer Joel Jaffe (co-owner of Studio D in Sausalito, CA) and mastered at the Plant Recording Studio in Sausalito, Waters says she held nothing back," when producing
this album.

With similar artists like Norah Jones topping charts, Waters sound is in high demand. Waters will be working with top AAA radio promoter Kevin Sutter of Tazmoe Music (Seattle, WA) to get her music played to national markets. Beths music is creative and has staying power", says Sutter.

Producer Mike Winger (Divine Comedy, Tim Bluhm of the Mother Hips) met Waters at a NRAS meeting in San Francisco where she performed live with just piano and voice. Soon after, she started recording with Winger in March of 2002. We had to start over at one point," said Waters. We had to make the decision to go in an artistic direction even if industry didnt 'get it."

Her previous record, Over The Tide", received over 270,000 downloads on MP3.com and 2 songs ranked in the Top 10 on GarageBand.com. GarageBand is currently working with Waters to promote her new record through their partners in internet radio.

Beth Waters self-titled album will be available through CDbaby.com in May followed by distribution through brick and mortar stores nationally.

At a time when women are taking the industry by storm, it comes as no surprise that Waters CD release party falls on May 7th, which is National Womens Day. The release will be held at Café Du Nord in San Francisco with opener Kirstin Candy.

I got lost on my way to work listening to it, I actually overshot my street" -- Jon Blaufarb, attorney for Waters and System of a Down.
