CLINICATION APPOINTS CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER
Donald E. Lighter, MD, MBA, FAAP to Lead Key Medical Initiatives
Palm Harbor, Fla. (Mar. 18, 2003) Clinication, Inc., a Healthcare Information Technology company and an emerging developer of patient adherence systems designed to improve care-plan compliance, announced today the appointment of Donald E. Lighter, MD, MBA, FAAP to the newly-created position of Chief Medical Officer.
Dr. Lighter is a recognized leader in Healthcare Quality Management and Physician Information Technology Adoption. After 20 years as a practicing pediatrician Dr. Lighter joined the External Quality Review Organization (EQRO) for the TennCare program as Medical Director where he developed six clinical practice guidelines. Dr. Lighter was then recruited to be Medical Director for Quality Management at Blue Cross - Blue Shield of Tennessee, where he led the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and American Accreditation HealthCare Commission (URAC) efforts. Dr. Lighter is director of the Institute for Healthcare Quality Research and Education, where his present major project is the implementation of a clinical outcomes research and improvement program for the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Dr. Lighter is Professor of Management at the University of Tennessee, where he teaches in the Physicians' Executive MBA program. Additionally, Dr. Lighter is a Senior Examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and a sought-after consultant on Quality and Information Technology.
In this leadership position Dr. Lighter will direct all medical operations for Clinication and be responsible for medical quality issues.
