Vodafone is to join with Telsis at the SMS TV Conference in London in April to deliver a keynote paper on implementing the infrastructure needed to support high-volume text-message voting and competitions for live television.
Vodafones UK network has the most advanced high-capacity SMS handling capability in the world thanks to the recent deployment of Telsis revolutionary SMS Router technology. It is able to quickly and reliably deliver all text messages generated during the massive traffic peaks that result from interactive broadcast and other events, including valuable person-to-person SMS traffic.
Vodafone SMS product manager Andrew Bowen and Telsis CTO Andrew Downing will present the two-part paper. Bowen will discuss how peak loads resulting from voting and competitions, challenge mobile networks and will go on to describe how Vodafone has embedded the Telsis technology within its own core infrastructure, reviewing the significant benefits now being generated.
Downings focus will be on the wider role SMS Router technology can play in mobile networks. He will show how the same processing power that enables operators to partner with broadcasters to build revenue and audience retention can also be used to add significant value to text messaging. Through the power of the SMS Router, a whole new generation of intelligent SMS based services and applications are set to further boost the power, utility and revenue generating potential of SMS.
SMS TV (http://www.ibctelecoms.com/smstv) is at the Mayfair Conference Centre, London, April 3-4. The joint Vodafone/Telsis paper will be presented at 12.40pm on Friday the 4th.
