Beloit, WI -- March 28, 2003 -- The Business Material Exchange of Wisconsin (BMEx) is a material listing service that matches companies, organizations and individuals that need materials with those that have reusable, surplus or by-product materials available. BMEx has selected Amy Loudenbeck as its new Director. Loudenbeck has a strong background in environmental services, including waste management and industrial by-product reuse.
The reuse and recycling program services all 72 Wisconsin counties and has users from 38 states and 16 foreign countries. Basic membership is free. BMEx is maintained by the Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce and is funded by a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Commerce. Chamber President Nancy Forbeck is encouraged by Loudenbecks technical expertise and believes that BMEx is capable of making a substantial impact on waste diversion in Wisconsin under her guidance.
The range of organizations currently served by BMEx is as diverse as the materials exchanged. A state-of-the-art website allows users to easily place materials on the exchange, as well as search for and respond to materials already listed. One of the programs goals for 2003 is to identify reuse options for certain types of high volume industrial waste. Ms. Loudenbeck hopes that BMEx can serve as a liaison between the numerous stakeholders in such endeavors. Several business sectors have recently been included in the BMEx programs marketing efforts, including concrete producers, asphalt plants, construction related businesses, agricultural entities, green" manufacturers and foundry recycling groups.
