Hands Across the Ocean Offers International Travel Medical Kits for Adoptive Families
Hands Across the Ocean, an adoption and family resources non-profit organization, announces the debut of one of its new products: a compact medical kit for families traveling internationally for adoption purposes. The International Travel Medical Kit is a comprehensive one that includes 18 items for both children and adults, and a 37-page booklet filled with health and medical information.
This kit was created to fill a critical need for families needing a portable medical kit after the Texas Medical Kit ceased production late last year. The kit was an invaluable resource to thousands of adoptive families; and now Hands Across the Ocean is ready to assist families with their adoption journey with its International Travel Medical Kit.

Ann Rinkenberger, Founder of Hands Across the Ocean, says, When I traveled to China to adopt my daughter in 2001, I created my own medical kit using the Texas Medical Kit as well as items I felt we would need overseas. This combination of medical supplies was a lifesaver. My daughter -- and all of the girls in her orphanage -- had terrible head colds since they didnt have heat in the orphanage. Because I brought medical supplies with me, I was very prepared and able to properly care for my daughter."
The Hands Across the Ocean International Travel Medical Kit is co-designed by a physician and Rinkenberger based on the items brought by Rinkenberger on her adoption journey. The items included in this kit focus exclusively on the ones that parents most likely will need overseas. With so many things to do before an international trip, being able to conveniently purchase this kit and not have to spend an entire day searching for all the items as well as the medical and health information contained in the booklet is invaluable," said Rinkenberger.
The kits are $60 plus $15 for shipping and handling. (Overnight delivery is available for an additional $20.) A list of the contents in the International Travel Medical Kit and an order form to purchase the kit are on Hands Across the Oceans website at www.handsacrosstheocean.org. Additional products that are on the website and available for families traveling internationally to adopt include: a Calming Baby Care Kit and the Stress-Free Carry-on Kit.
A percentage of each purchase is designated to help meet the basic and creative needs of orphans living throughout the world. Hands Across the Ocean has five projects identified that provide warm clothing and art supplies to children living in orphanages in China, Tajikistan, and Brazil; a sponsor-a-nanny program in China; a project that provides remedial tutoring, middle school tuition, music, computer, language, and vocational training to teenage girls aging out of the orphanage system; and a program in Thailand that teaches children life and creative skills.
