Nationally Acclaimed Blind Recording Artist
Giving Free Concert in Campbell
CAMPBELL, CA, March 27, 2003...The nationally acclaimed singer, Stephanie Dawn, will be coming to the Campbell Seventh-day Adventist Church on April 5th, where she will be performing a free concert. Ms. Dawn is a Chapel Recording Artist with three current CDs: Songs of Deliverance, My Song Shall Be of Jesus, and her new Christmas CD, Do You Hear What I Hear?
Ms. Dawn first sang in church at the age of three, and recorded her third album by the time she was 11. At the tender age of 14, she had the distinction of soloing at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., and honored again four years later with an invitation for an encore performance. Ms. Dawn went on to take Grand Prize" in the 1996 Ultimate Talent Search sponsored by Embassy Music in Nashville when she was just 15-years-old. Today, at the age of 22, she has sung on NBC, NPR, 3ABN, SAFE-TV, and in concert halls and churches across the nation. Blind since birth, in addition to having a life-long struggle with debilitating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), this sensitive artist shares her self-confessed, God-given talent as her driving force, carrying her through many difficult times.
Along with her mother and step-father, Caren and Dann Thornton, and their five-year-old son, Jamie, Ms. Dawn records and performs under their own label, Thorntone Music. In addition to being a professional musician in his own right, Mr. Thornton not only is Ms. Dawns accompanist, but also writes all the arrangements for their recordings and performances. Together they have given more than 400 concerts across the nation in the last three years, with a repertoire consisting of nearly 250 songs, ranging from traditional to contemporary. When I took her to Andrews University in 1999, 2,500 students gave her a thunderous, standing ovation-not seen on that campus in 20 years. On a scale of one to ten, shes a ten," said E. Lonnie Melashenko, Director/National Speaker for the Voice of Prophecy."
The upcoming concert is free-of-charge, and will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 5th, at the Campbell SDA Church, located at 600 W. Campbell Avenue, Campbell CA 95008, phone (408) 866-4625. Soloist, Del Delker, says, I am awed by the warmth and interpretation of her songs, and her versatility in range and style of music." Since Thorntone Music is a full-time music ministry, Ms. Dawns mission is to share her testimony of victory over fear and emotional darkness, knowing with clarity where her talent originates. Any good-will offerings will be graciously accepted to enable Thorntone Music to continue with its ministry.
