THE SCHAWBEL CORPORATION SELLS CORDLESS HAIR CARE LINE TO CONAIR

The Schawbel Corporation, a leader in bringing innovative, patented products to market, announced today the sale of its ThermaCELL® Hair Care business to the Conair Corporation of Stamford, CT. With this purchase, Conair acquires the rights to sell ThermaCELL Hair Care appliances worldwide, with the exception of the Japanese market.

Bedford, MA - March 26, 2003 - The Schawbel Corporation, a leader in bringing innovative, patented products to market, announced today the sale of its ThermaCELL® Hair Care business to the Conair Corporation of Stamford, CT. With this purchase, Conair acquires the rights to sell ThermaCELL Hair Care appliances worldwide, with the exception of the Japanese market.

The Conair Corporation is the worlds largest manufacturer of hair care appliances. In addition to hair care appliances, Conair is also a worldwide producer of personal care, fitness, cooking, communications and oral care products.

Conair and Schawbel have a long history of working together. Starting in 1986, Conair was the first company to market ThermaCELL curling irons in the US. Conair is looking forward to building on its early success with the line and is pleased to add ThermaCELL to its own roster of well-known hair care brands.

Since 1986, when The Schawbel Corporation began manufacturing and marketing its cordless curling irons, the company has sold over 15 million curling irons and 60 million butane refill cartridges in the U.S., creating a substantial consumer base as well as product recognition. ThermaCELL curling irons and refills have been sold in over 20 countries under brand names that include Conair, Revlon, Vidal Sassoon, Clairol, Remington, Black and Decker, Philips, BaByliss, Panasonic, Unix, Tescom, Salton and Koizumi.

Schawbel will continue to market its successful ThermaCELL® Mosquito Repellent line of appliances and refills through Joseph Enterprises Incorporated of San Francisco, CA and internationally via individual distribution arrangements. Schawbel also manufactures a cordless Baby Bottle Warmer and refills for Umix Corporation of Colorado Springs, CO.

Schawbel and Conair will maintain their working relationship to expand the ongoing growth of the cordless curling iron business. The two companies will also continue to collaborate on additional proprietary cordless products in the hair care appliance category.
