VETERAN HR MANAGERS OFFER
CREATING A PEACEFUL WORKPLACE IN TIMES OF WAR
Philadelphia, PA, April 3, 2003-Beginning today, a workshop will be offered to help managers and executives deal with social dissonance in their offices and factories caused by the war in Iraq. Created by Rob McNeil a consultant to senior management and Mick Mortlock, former dean of CIGNA Technology Institute and now a private consultant, the program focuses on mutual respect in the workplace.
The need for this came directly out of my experience during the first Desert Storm" said Mick Mortlock who was then a human resources manager at Intel Corporation, some employees wore sweat shirts depicting the destruction of other employees native land. This began a heated discussion and only the creation of mutually respectable dialogue cooled the situation."
Participants will learn how to encourage dialogue between people with highly divergent opinions; how to build bridges between diverse populations; and how to create policies and procedures that protect and respect all employees in these volatile times. Failure to take these issues on can tear the workplace apart and produce a toxic environment that can cripple employee performance," said workshop co-creator Rob McNeil.
The workshop, using a technology called WebCouncil, will create a safe environment by tapping into peoples ability to communicate verbally, visually, and kinesthetically about their deepest concerns.
All profits from this workshop will go to the Long Now Foundation; The Long Now Foundation seeks to promote "slower/better" thinking and to foster creativity in the framework of the next 10,000 years.
