Press release for:
Radio Roks 102 FM Presents
The Dave Francis Show
English Radio
With a Bad Attitude!
There is now a radio show in St. Petersburg totally in English. It blends music, calls from listeners, news stories, and black humor to provide an informative alternative to the English speaking audience in St. Petersburg. The show is geared primarily to people from 20-40 years old, but will reach across all age spectrums, since the drawing card of the show relies on the fact that it is English language driven.
The host, Dave Francis, is a 43-year old ex-pat American who has been living in St. Petersburg for 3 years. A journalist, Dave primarily worked for La Opinion, a Spanish/English newspaper. He has also written for The Texas Mercury, and numerous other journals. Dave started off covering sports in San Antonio Texas, then moved to writing about the numerous conflicts in Central America. Living and traveling all throughout Central America and Mexico, Dave got to know the isthmus on an intimate level that is seldom encountered among Americans.
With financial backing from Leninetz, the manufacturers of advanced radar systems, Dave has put together this English radio show.
We hope to reach the ex-pat community from the US, England, and really all the western countries," says Dave. There are a lot of people living and working in St. Petersburg that have English as a first or second language. In addition to the foreigners living here, there are a lot of business people, a lot of students, and of course, tourists that will find an English show a nice addition to their day. With the 300th anniversary coming up, we are hoping that the show will be broadcast daily by the time the tourist season gets here. This city is too continental, too cosmopolitan, to not have English on the radio. I have traveled to about 50 different countries, and it is embarrassing that St. Petersburg doesnt have bilingual radio." Dave continues, St. Petersburg is Russias most beautiful city, its window to the west. Speaking English is now a necessary part of life here. To really thrive, in todays market, a person, a city, a people have to embrace other cultures, other languages. At this time in history, English is that language."
