TECACCCESS TO PRESENT AT WEB ACCESSIBILITY CONFERENCE

TecAccess announced today that its president, Debra Ruh, would speak at the U.S. GSA Section 508 Coordinators Conference. This is the second time that the GSA Section 508 Buy Accessible" team has invited Ms. Ruth to present at their quarterly meeting. She will discuss the assessment and testing of Electronic and Internet Technology (E&IT) accessibility. She will further explain how these evaluation processes help with Section 508 compliance and the procurement of E&IT.

This is the second time that the GSA Section 508 Buy Accessible" team has invited Ms. Ruth to present at their quarterly meeting. She will discuss the assessment and testing of Electronic and Internet Technology (E&IT) accessibility. She will further explain how these evaluation processes help with Section 508 compliance and the procurement of E&IT.

     The GSA Section 508 Coordinators Conference will occur on April 2, 2003, at the Department of Labor. It will last from 8 A.M. to 4:15 P.M. In addition to Ms. Ruhs presentation, the Patent and Trademark Office and Health and Human Services will give Best Practice Reports on Section 508 compliance. The National Federation of the Blind will also present an overview of its web tool concepts, platform compliance, and website certification program. The conference will further include an update on the various Section 508 projects such as Section 508 Universe, Buy Accessible, and Accessibility Forum. To conclude, it will focus on the proposed procurement tool for the Accessibility Forum and hold panel discussion on the next Section 508 survey.

    Section 508 is the amendment to the Workforce Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which was signed into law by President Clinton in 1998. It requires all federal departments, agencies, contractors, and federally funded companies to make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities. The law covers their development, maintenance, procurement, and use of these technologies.
